8 KAM Drivers Vying for a Chili Bowl Ride thru the KKM Giveback Classic

(10/30/2018)

Over 135 aspiring race drivers from across the United States have been accepted to compete in the Keith Kunz Motorsports (KKM) Giveback Classic Presented by TRD, USA (Toyota Racing Development).

Set to be held at North Carolina’s Millbridge Speedway on Oct. 31, the KKM Giveback Classic will award the winning Open division outlaw-kart driver with a ride in a Keith Kunz Motorsports-prepared, Toyota-powered midget during the 33rd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Okla., in January.

Texas’ KAM Kartway, in Rhome, Texas, (located 14 miles West of Texas Motor Speedway) has 8 drivers representing them in this National Event.  They are:

  • Emilee Lowry
  • Sean Knox
  • Wes Knox
  • Gracie Sonntag
  • Pierce Urbanosky
  • Jett Hays
  • William Sutton
  • Shane Marquez

“The KKM classic really gives me an opportunity to get my name more exposure. Just running up front and being the kart they watch come from the back and make top 5 is probably just as good as winning.” Said Jett, “I hope running this will give me some new opportunities to maybe hop in a midget a few times next year. I’m excited to get out there and see what we can bring to the table.”

Jett and Emilee both won features at KAM Kartway affording them a free set of Hoosier Race Tires from KKM Sponsor Hoosier Tires.

“The KKM classic is an awesome opportunity for some of the young drivers to showcase their talent in front of car owners and sponsors.” Said Amy Hays (Jett’s Mom), “I would love to see a deserving kid earn a spot on the KKM team. This is something they’ve all dreamed of but very few will ever get a shot at. As a parent of a child who has dreamed of running a midget or sprint car since kindergarten, it’s truly a blessing.”

Wednesday’s racing action will be available for purchase for just $24.99. Race fans will get to see all of the heat racing and feature racing action from the 1/6-mile clay oval in Salisbury, North Carolina.

On Tuesday, October 30, Millbridge’s Beginner Box Stock, Box Stock and Intermediate divisions will be in action for a regular event. The Open division will practice and qualify for Wednesday’s racing action.

On Wednesday, the Open division will compete in heat races, C-Mains, B-Mains and of course the A-Main event which will determine the newest member of the Keith Kunz Motorsports stable for the 2019 Chili Bowl Nationals.

Race fans can purchase their online video ticket for just $24.99 by thru Speed51.com.
