LOWE, SAM & PHILLIPS TAKE WINS IN HANGOVER 150 TAKE 2; A TOTAL OF 147 CARS ENTERED THE 11TH ANNUAL EVENT
Ransomville, NY – Saturday, January 29, 2011 – A total of one hundred and forty seven cars filled the pit area last Saturday afternoon for the 11th annual Hangover 150. Presented by Investor’s Services -this event was actually renamed the Hangover 150 Take 2 after mother nature forced the event to be post-poned on New Year’s day. Two thousand fans enjoyed all the action via the grandstands and Bud Tower Suites.
Dave Lowe of Eldridge, PA took top honors in the 4 cylinder 50 lap main. Lowe and Chris Bonoffski put on a great show for the fans as they battled side by side through the final stages of the event. The pair swapped the lead in the final five circuits and looked on their way to a photo finish before disaster struck for Bonoffski. Going into turn two, Bonoffski lost the handle and came to rest ending his day. While certainly disappointing, Chris had built up a sizeable advantage of the remainder of the field resulting in a second place finish. Antone Anderson had a great run coming home in the third position. A total of fifty-nine cars took the green. Ransomville regular Ken Camidge led the early stages prior to giving way to Bonoffski from Fulton, NY.
Zack Sam started the 2011 season off the right way by collecting the win in the 6 cylinder 50 lap main. Sam is a regular in the Gippsters Collision 4 Banger ranks and looked in championship form as he bested a field of sixty-one starters. Sam took the lead way from Jeremy Mangion early on and then swapped the top spot with Chad Smelser on a couple of occasions. Frank DiMino came from mid pack to enjoy a great second place finish while Mike Cheff rounded out the top three.
The 8 cylinder roster resembled that of a Friday night one as many Ransomville regulars joined in the mayhem. Tim Phillips of Grand Island, NY collected his second Hangover win last Saturday. Phillips is regular competitor in the Sprint car ranks and also the presenting sponsor of the 2nd place cash award. Rich Watkins came home in second – a teammate of Phillips. Third place finisher was Adam Gierach of Niagara Falls. Ransomville regulars in the event included Ryan Susice, Bob Urtel, Jesse Cotriss, Robert Winters, and Jaren Israel. A total of twenty-six competitors took the green.
