Miles Chevrolet Night and 65th Anniversary Driver Reunion

Macon, IL – Macon Speedway will be hosting Miles Chevrolet Night at the races. This weekend will also be the 65th Anniversary driver reunion as drivers from the past come back to Macon Speedway.
Macon Speedway is one of the Midwest’s premier dirt racing facilities and is one of Illinois’ oldest racetracks which opened its doors on April 7, 1946. Macon Speedway was built and originally operated by Wayne Webb. Opening night feature midget racing through the mid 50’s, then the track went on to feature Super Modifieds which ran into the late 60’s. Next, the Super Stock division which later changed their name to Late Models joined the line up along with Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks divisions. Macon Speedway is in its 65th year in operation in 2010, one of the oldest businesses in Macon County.
Miles Chevrolet is glad to be a part of Macon Speedway and the Driver Reunion. Miles Chevrolet will be giving the past drivers ride around the track in Chevrolet trucks during intermission to conclude the 65th Anniversary celebration with the past drivers of Macon Speedway.
The celebration will start on Wednesday, June 23 for the past drivers at Pop’s Place from 7-8pm with a radio show called Behind the Pit Wall with Larry Limbach. Saturday will start with a BBQ for the past drivers from 3-5pm as fans are encouraged to come out and be a part of the BBQ as the cost is $5 per person. This will be a chance to sit and talk to past drivers and learn more about Macon Speedway. You will also get the chance to get an autograph from the past drivers as well.
See guys such as Jim Ater, Roger Ater, Butch Garner, Jim Harter, Billy Adams, Gene Adams, David Smith (PEE WEE), Jerry Myers, Tommy Croft Sr, Jim Leka, Rick Alwood, Randy Scott, and Brad Emery.

Macon Speedway is also pleased to announce that the Mueller Distributing Miller Lite Twin 50’s will be made up on August 5th. As Macon Speedway tries to add late model races for the fans we are also pleased to announce the late models will be apart of the July 22 Night of NASCAR Stars III as fans will now be able to see late models race every week at Macon Speedway.
Macon Speedway’s “Best Fan in the Stands” sponsored by All Service Racing Parts and Sheet Metal, located on Damon Ave. across from Firestone. “All Service Racing Parts is your only All Star Performance dealer in Decatur”. A lucky fan will win $100 this week if their name is draw from the box after the Modified feature event. If the Best Fan in the Stands is not present the prize money will roll over into next week’s prize.  Macon Speedway will also be drawing an extra 50/50 ticket to give one lucky fan a ride in the Macon Speedway 2 seater Late Model driven by one of Macon Speedway’s local drivers.
Saturday night’s schedule will feature six divisions UMP Late Models, Modifieds, Touchstone Energy Sportsman, Street Stocks, Pro and Amateur Hornets.
Macon Speedway offers fun family entertainment every Saturday night from April to September.  With many fan favorite events on schedule, including three “Night of NASCAR Stars” nights planned and the famous Herald and Review 100, UMP’s premier Summer National event, 2010 is stacking up to be a memorable year.  Be sure to come join Macon Speedway for an action packed summer.

Be sure to mark your calendar with the upcoming events July 3rd will be our annual Fireworks celebration on 95Q Night with Twin 40’s for the Late Models and Modifieds. July 5th will be Night of NASCAR stars II featuring Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader, and Kenny Wallace with the POWRi Midgets, Micros, UMP Modifieds, and Street Stocks. July 8th will be the long awaited Herald & Review 100 for the UMP Late Models. July 10th will be Touchstone Energy Night/Fireman’s Ball. July 17th will be Skeff Distributing Night/Christmas in July – toy drive.
