Kimmel Memorial Is Sunday At Williams Grove Speedway, Two Race Weekend Slated

Mechanicsburg – As part of a two-race weekend at Williams Grove Speedway over the Labor Day holiday weekend, Williams Grove will present the Billy Kimmel Memorial for 410 sprints on Sunday night, September 4 at 8 pm.
The super sportsman will make a rare Williams Grove start along with the sprint cars in the Kimmel Memorial.
The Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprints will race for $3,800 to win in Sunday’s event while the sportsman race for $1,500 to win, sponsored in part by Blazer’s Body Shop.
There will be no time trials for sprint cars on Sunday night.
Adult general admission is $15 for the racing program with youth ages 13 – 20 priced at $10.
Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for free at Williams Grove Speedway!
The Williams Grove portion of the 50/50 drawing will be donated to the Billy Kimmel Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Mechanicsburg’s Rodney Westhafer will campaign a Billy Kimmel tribute No. 47 sprint car in the special event.
The Kimmel family will have the Kimmel No. 47 car on display in the infield prior to the races along with scholarship-funding Kimmel apparel up for sale.
Billy Kimmel was fatally injured in a sprint car accident at Williams Grove Speedway in 2007 at the age of 27.
On Friday night, Williams Grove will be in action with the Gary Beam Tribute Race for 410 sprints.
The Beam Tribute will showcase the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars in a 25-lap main event paying a hefty $4,088 to win in honor of Beam’s famed No. 88 sprint car.
Time trials will be used to set the sprint car lineups for the night.
The 358 late models will join the 410 sprints for the show with $800 posted to win the limited late model main.
Fireworks will also help kickoff the holiday weekend.
