50th Anniversary Season Mother's Day Special at MCS
(5/10/2016)
Marion Center Speedway’s 50th Anniversary Season was able to resume Saturday night with the second race of the year after a week off for a rain delay. It was the “Mother’s Day Special” with all five divisions racing for double points. The results from the night of racing are:
The Lias Tire Super Late Model twenty-five lap feature was won by Jared Miley from Pittsburgh. Miley started the feature in fifth place and worked his way up through to challenge race leader and pole position starter, Mike Blose of New Bethlehem. Blose had been maintaining the lead throughout the entire race, but after twenty laps completed, Miley got the best of him and made a pass for the lead that took him to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle. The final results of the Lias Tire Super Late Model Feature are: 1) Jared Miley, 2) Mike Blose, 3) Dave Blazavich, 4) Levi Sikora, 5) Greg Oakes, 6) Tommy Beck, 7) Jason Witherite, 8) Tom Shaffer, 9) Jayme Beck, 10) Devin Lewis – the following cars did not finish the feature- 11) Bill Burns, 12) Charles Powell, Jr., 13) Billy Eash, 14) Joe Martin, 15) Michael Oakes—16) Matt Lux did not start the feature. Heats went to Mike Blose and Tommy Beck.
The Pisano’s Personal Care Home Steel Block Limited Late Model feature had the most cars competing in it of all five divisions with twenty-seven competitors taking to the track for the 20 lap feature. Cheyenne Reed of Punxsutawney won the eventful race after taking over the lead when the former leader, Kyle Knapp, spun out after leading for seven laps from his outside pole position start. It wasn’t easy going for Reed as restarts kept the full pack close together and Wendell Pinckney of Albion was on his tail for each of them. Reed kept Pinckney at bay to gain entry into the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle once again. The outcome of the race is: 1) Cheyenne Reed, 2) Wendell Pinckney, 3) Gale Huey, 4) Jeff Sweeney, 5) Sam Gindlesperger, 6) Rod Phillips, 7) Jeff Taylor, 8) Joe Moyer, 9) Dave Buchanan, 10) Tom Jobe. The Pisano’s Personal Care Home Limited Late Model heat races were won by Cheyenne Reed, Gale Huey and Gabe Shaffer.
The W. G. Satterlee and Sons E-Mods are growing in numbers at Marion Center Speedway for the start of the 50th Anniversary Season. This week there were eight new competitors to sign in for the races in that division. Evan Taylor from Saltsburg took the feature all the way from pole position start to checkered flag finish. John Taylor kept the pressure on Evan but settled in second place. The results of the W. G. Satterlee & Sons E-Mod feature: 1) Evan Taylor, 2) John Taylor, 3) Shane Crotty, 4) Daniel Hill, 5) Alan Atkinson, 6) Bill Pluta, Jr., 7) Matt Lux, 8) Paul Phillips. Evan Taylor also won the heat race.
The Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock feature went to Rich Waltman, Jr. from Coolspring. Waltman led every lap of the fifteen lap feature-from the first green flag to checkers- to go on to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle.
