Ron Jenkins Memorial to Join ASCoC at Millstream Speedway
Findlay, OH – While promoters Randy and Lisa Hammer have made many strides toward taking Millstream Speedway strongly forward into the future, they have also made it clear that it’s just as important to honor the past. This week brings an opportunity to do just that with the running of the Ron Jenkins Memorial event, sharing top billing with the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series this Sunday night, September 27.
Ron Jenkins was a former track champion at Millstream in the stock car division, and has been a long-time supporter of the speedway. Soon after he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident, the stock car community quickly came together with the Hammers to put together a memorial event to honor his memory. Based on the car number of the former champion (21), the Ron Jenkins Memorial will feature 21 cars for 21 laps and will pay $1021.00 to win, three times the regular amount for that division. The stock cars will run jointly with the dirt truck division, with all entrants governed by their home track’s rules package.
Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series will also be on hand this week in their final Millstream Speedway appearance of the season, paying $5,000.00 to win the main event. A full program of 305 cubic inch sprint cars will round out the 3-division card.
All gates will open at 3pm this Sunday. A race car display, driver autograph session, and racing trivia will entertain fans before practice begins at 5:30pm. Racing action is scheduled for 6:30pm.
Millstream Motorsports Complex, home of Millstream Speedway, is located 3 miles west of Findlay. Take US-224 West to TR-136, turn right, just 2 blocks to the corner of TR-136 and TR-95. Please do not park in areas marked as “no parking,” as you could be towed at your expense. Tailgating with a grill is welcomed, but please no fires on the ground. Stakes may not be used to mark hillside spots, but spray paint is OK. No tape on the bleachers, please. General admission is $20, Military w/ID $18, Seniors (65 & older) $15, Youth 11-15 $10, 10yrs and under are FREE. Coolers up to 14" permitted. No glass, please. No beer carried in but can be purchased on-site.
