Late Models and BBQ Spice Things Up at Millstream Speedway
(8/27/2015)
Findlay, OH, August 27, 2015 – Every era has its superstars. In the early days of stock car racing at Millstream Speedway, Clarence Ray wowed the crowd in his orange #900 coupe. A generation later, Art Ball and Jimmy Fleming dueled for supremacy, while Dave Marko and Kris Patterson ruled the ‘90’s. This Sunday night, August 30, a new era of dirt late model racing kicks off at Millstream with the likes of Rusty Schlenk, who is leading the national UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) points and is gunning for another points championship.
The UMP-sanctioned LMs will be joined by UMP-sanctioned modifieds, along with an interesting division made up of both stock cars and trucks. Rules for this unique grouping will be based on the home track rules of each competitor. In another twist, the stock division will feature a “Lucky Dog” drawing, whereby a random draw of all entries that do not transfer to the feature event will place two lucky drivers into the field.
While race fans are always invited to come out early for some pre-race tailgating, this week takes the invitation to a whole new level. They can not only come out for a barbeque, but they may even get paid for it! A top prize of $250 awaits the winner of the “BBQ Pitmaster Challenge.” Judging begins at 3:30pm to see whose BBQ is the best of the best. Full competition rules and details are available on the speedway’s website: www.millstreamspeedway.net
All gates will open at 3pm this Sunday. A race car display, driver autograph session, and racing trivia will entertain fans before hot laps begin at 5:30pm. Racing action is scheduled for 6:30pm.
