Salem, Indiana (Friday, August 21, 2015): Champion Racing Association officials and the management at Crisp Motorsports Park – Home of the Watermelon Capital Speedway have released the dates for SpeedFest 2016. The prestigious pre-season event featuring Super Late Models and Pro Late Models will be held on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st. As is tradition, this event is held the weekend prior to the Super Bowl every year. This will be the 5th straight year that SpeedFest has been held at Crisp Motorsports Park – Home of the Watermelon Capital Speedway, which is located in Cordele, Georgia.
“We are very excited to have SpeedFest once again at Crisp Motorsports Park Home of the Watermelon Capital Speedway and to work with Promoter Wayne Lyle,” remarked R.J. Scott, managing Partner with CRA. “Wayne did a great job in 2015 after taking over the track from previous owner Marvin Ragan, and we are very pleased to go back to Cordele and interact with all the great staff, racers and fans.”
Lyle, a local business owner with interests in farming, trucking and logistics, continues to make improvements at the facility. “SpeedFest 2016 will have advance reserved and general admission ticket sales available on our website next month,” remarked Lyles. “Major credit cards will be accepted. The facility now has Wi-Fi. We will have a new heated and cooled washroom facility and ticket office. There will be camping available in the back park area as well as 20 large RV hookups at the pond area (electric and water only). All camping areas will be serviced with sanitary pick up service.
“We look forward to having another great group of racers come compete at Speedfest 2016, and all the great fans that come out to watch this great event,” added Lyles! “We hope to continue to bring renewed enthusiasm back to short track asphalt racing in our area and we certainly look forward to hosting CRA’s SpeedFest for many years to come as a kick off to our yearly racing season.”
SpeedFest 2016 will once again consist of an ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS special non-points event and a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance special non-points event. Additional information about SpeedFest 2016 will be released at a later date.

The track is a D shaped banked paved oval situated on 100 acres located along I-75 at exit 104, near Cordele, Georgia. The manager is Eddie MacDonald, a former racer who has been associated with the track since it was converted from dirt to asphalt 20 years ago. His phone # is 229-938-8814.
