MARION CENTER SPEEDWAY July 25, 2015 ULMS Super Late Model Special
(7/31/2015)
Marion Center Speedway hosted the United Late Model Series (ULMS) Saturday night at the quarter-mile track between Indiana and Punxsutawney. It was a fantastic feature event paying out $2000 to win. Plus there was the Memorial race, the Dave and Belle “Thrill on the Hill” Dash. There was also racing in the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock Division and the Butler Auto Supplies Front Wheel Drive 4/6 Cylinders. Lots of excitement and fun for everyone and even some fireworks too! - Here’s what happened on the track:
Max Blair had come to Marion Center Speedway last week and won the feature while scoping out the track for this week’s ULMS Special. Blair did his homework well, walking away this week with the big money payout and the WGM Gas Company trophy that were presented to him in the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle. Blair started on the outside pole after finishing second to Jared Miley in the Dave and Belle Thrill on the Hill Dash. After a rough start with a few cautions keeping the pack close together and the pace down, Blair was able to break away from the field and make his run for the checkers putting numerous contenders a lap down in the process. Max Blair from Centerville was kicking butt and taking names as he sped around the track making his way in and out of traffic to find his way to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle. The official finish for the ULMS Special at Marion Center Speedway is 1) Max Blair, 2) Jared Miley, 3) Doug Eck, 4) Rich Gardner, 5) Dutch Davies, 6) Dan Angelichio, 7) Matt Lux, 8) Joe Petyak, 9) Mike Blose, 10) Brent Rhebergen, 11) Jason DuPont, 12) Dave Blazavich, 13) Rod Phillips, 14) Bobby Rohrer, 15) Ken Schaltenbrand, 16) Levi Sikora, 17) John Wayne Weaver, 18) Bernie Whiteford, 19) Bob Sheesley, 20) Tom Shaffer, 21) Bob Dorman, 22) John Britsky, 23) Doug Glessner, 24) Shawn Claar, 25) Billy Eash/ driven by Gary Stahl. In the Dave and Belle Memorial Dash the results were 1) Jared Miley, 2) Max Blair, 3) Mike Blose, 4) Doug Eck, 5) John Britsky, 6) Dave Blazavich. The heat race winners were Max Blair, Mike Blose and Jared Miley.
Chris Hickok won the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock Feature giving him a hat trick of victories with this being his third in a row trip to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle. Hickok of Commodore made his way to the front of the race from his second row starting position in five laps. First passing Ryan Caldwell for second place and then Nick Erskine for the lead. Once in the lead Hickok was sailing to the finish line and the double checkered flags waiting for him. Erskine kept the pressure on Hickok and then the other Nick, Nick Fulmer made his way up from starting dead last in thirteenth position to contend for the lead. But Hickok held off Fulmer for the win. Here’s the final result of the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock Feature: 1) Chris Hickok, 2) Nick Fulmer, 3) Nick Erskine, 4) Ryan Caldwell, 5) Rich Waltman, Jr., 6) Gary Stitt, 7) Craig Fox, 8) Larry Brewer, 9) Jim Hamilton, 10) Dillon Smith. Contenders that didn’t finish the feature were Kenny Haight, George Brinker and Andy Komlosky, Jr... The Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock heat races were won by Chris Hickok and Ryan Caldwell.
The Butler Auto Supplies Front Wheel Drive 4/6 Cylinder feature was once again won by Jack Mumau from East Run giving Mumau back-to-back victories in the division. Mumau started on the outside pole and stayed close to pole sitter Jesse Laughard of Seward for the chance to make his move for the lead. That opportunity came in lap five and Mumau made his pass for the lead and took over the race from Laughard. Laughard stayed with the new leader to the end for a second place finish. The Butler Auto Supplies Front Wheel Drive 4/6 Cylinder feature finish consisted of 1) Jack Mumau, 2) Jesse Laughard, 3) John Costa, 4) Michael Phillipson, 5) Robert Lydic, 6) Tanner Lansberry with Wade Roles and Brady Gallaher not taking any laps in the feature. The Butler Auto Supplies FWD 4/6 Cylinder heat race went to Jesse Laughard.
