McLean County Speedway adds Mini Van Racing to Fair Program!!

Mclean County Speedway has decided to add Mini Vans to the program during the Mclean County Fair! Its something different and we hope it brings fans and vans from all over! Below is the rules which are pretty simple and inexpensive! Affordable fun for MOM, the wives, and girlfriends! 

 

2015 Mclean County Speedway/ Mclean County Fair Soccer Mom/Mini-Van Races

 

This will be a race for women only that have not participated in any sanctioned races (not including enduro drivers). All drivers must be 18 years or older.20 lap race.

 

Drivers must wear an automotive racing type helmet of current standards and are to be worn at all times on the track. Full face helmets with flip shield are recommended. No helmets with radio harnesses will be allowed. No two-way radio communications will be allowed between the driver and pit personnel. Drivers must wear a fire retardant suit of Nomex or equivalent material any time the driver is on the track. Firesuits must be free of grease, oil or other flammable substances and free of tears. Neck collars, flame retardant gloves, underwear, socks, shoes, head socks, and arm restraints are recommended

 

Competing Models: Any North American or foreign-made production model Mini-Van. 4 or 6 cylinder motors only. Front wheel drive only. No All Wheel drive is allowed.

 

Appearance: Numbers should be displayed on both sides and top of the van. The Nodak Race Club reserves the right to deny access in competition because of a sponsorship, advertisement, paint scheme and/or lettering on a van that is considered not in good taste or not in keeping in the spirit of a family entertainment sport.

 

Body: The body and frame must remain OEM stock with stock firewalls, floorboards and body panels (unless otherwise noted). The body, firewall mounts and body mounts must be OEM stock in stock location. All inner sheet metal must remain in place. All holes in firewall and floor boards must be sealed off. The insulation in the hood must be removed. Stock Rear spoilers on the top of the van are permitted for cosmetic appearance only.

 

All vans must have complete bodies in the proper configuration for the model and year, including fenders, bumpers, roof, nosepiece, hood and trunks. A screen for protection is permitted in the front window opening. Three (3) vertical bars (no less than 3/16) are allowed. The original grill must be removed but expanded metal or screen may be installed. The drivers door must be securely chained or welded shut. Both front and rear bumpers must remain stock OEM. Stock bumper brackets may be welded. No sharp edges are permitted on the body or bumpers. Chains to secure the bumpers are highly recommended. No additional material may be added to the bumpers. Rub rails are permitted between the wheelbase only. A maximum of 1.75 round tube or 3.00 x .025 max flat steal welded to the body. It may be no lower than the center of the hubs and no higher than the top of the tire and it must be tight against the body with no sharp edges. A full size window net on the drivers side window is recommended.

 

All body components must be firmly attached to the van competing in any race.

 

All OEM factory rear hatch and hood latches may be removed and replaced with a chain. An access hole should be cut in the hood for emergencies.

 

All headlights, taillights, mirrors, glass and emblems must be removed. All flammable material (plastic or fabric) must be removed from the interior of the van. Dash and driver’s side door panel should remain. Sheet metal work is not permitted in the driver’s area from the dash to the rear of the seat. The interior sheet metal may not be boxed around the driver’s seat.

Brakes: The entire brake system must remain stock OEM type within stock dimensions, steel thickness, and location.

Fuel System: Stock fuel system with stock fuel pump only. Electric fuel pumps must shut off with the ignition.

 

Engine: The engine must remain within the stock location and configurations as currently delivered by

OEM. All mounts must remain as OEM stock types.

 

Driveline/Transmissions: The entire driveline and transmission system must remain stock OEM with the stock dimensions, steel thickness, location and configurations as currently delivered OEM for the make and model of van. Automatic or manual transmissions are permitted if it was delivered with the make and model of the van. Automatics must use a working stock appearing torque convertor

 

Roll Bar: A roll bar is recommended consisting of a minimum of a single hoop of 1.75 x 0.095 diameter

tubing. A four point roll cage is highly recommended.

 

Seats: Stock seat or factory-manufactured metal racing seats may be used. No homemade seats will be permitted.

 

Safety Harness: Stock OEM working seat belt or may be replaced with an approved type of five (5) point racing harness (minimum 3 wide) that is equipped with a quick release buckle unless otherwise designated. All belts should be free from damage, fraying, tearing etc.

 

Tires and wheels: Tires must be DOT standard production-maximum 60 series (no wider). No directional, high performance, racing, recaps or soft compound tires are allowed.Any OEM automotive steel or aluminum wheel that has a maximum of 7.00 width is permitted. Heavy-duty wheel studs and lug nuts are highly recommended. Wheel spacers are not allowed.

 

Suspension: All shocks and struts must remain OEM stock in the OEM stock location. Battery: The battery must be securely mounted in the stock location.

Exhaust: OEM stock exhaust only.

 

Radiator: OEM stock radiator only and must remain in the engine compartment in the stock mounts/location.

 

Air bags must be disabled.

 

Please remember that the spirit of this race is for stock appearing and stock components for the vans. All track and race procedures will be observed. Copies can be sent upon request.

Driver and car are free admittance, however the State Fair gate pass will need to be purchased. Pitmen will pay $25.00 pit pass and State Fair gate pass.
