TITLE SPONSOR FOR UPIR IS A REPEAT

(5/22/2014) For Immediate Release Contact: Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau Sheila Krueger ; Rick Elrod 906-789-7862 cvb@deltami.org The Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau gets in the passenger seat to again help The Upper Peninsula International Racing Association shift into the next gear. The Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau announces it will again be the title sponsor for the 2014 Upper Peninsula International Raceway Auto Racing Series. The $10,000.00 for the race series title sponsorship will be used to guarantee funding for the driver purse and payouts. Sheila Krueger, of the Delta County Commerce Center said, “The CVB Board of Directors continues to be supportive of the UPIRA and their endeavors to continue racing in Delta County. In discussions with the UPIRA organizers, there is an increase in racers coming to the track from Wisconsin and both ends of the Upper Peninsula. We hope this sponsorship will give these racers a greater incentive to race at the track and stay in a local lodging property.” Tom Dubord president of UPIRA said, “We are excited that the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau will again be the title sponsor for the upcoming season. The organization has been supportive of our efforts since day one and the CVB Board understands the potential that racing will have on the area motels in the future. We are glad they have decided to make the major investment as race series title sponsor again this season and I know that the drivers appreciate the continued funding of the prize purses.” The 2014 UPIRA Season kicks of this weekend, May 16th and 17th with Saturday’s event featuring NASCAR Veteran Ken Schrader. The Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau is comprised of lodging properties in Delta County that have 10 or more rooms and is managed by a membership Board of Directors elected on a biannual basis. The organization’s sole purpose is to increase overnight stays in its’ member’s properties.
