Satterleee Claims Topless 25

(6/17/2012)

The A-Train Alex Ferree, Saxonburg, PA picked up his first win of the season after being close all season in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic DIRTcar Super Late Models. Pole sitter Daryl Charlier took the lead on the first lap; when Josh Holtgraver stopped on the back straight bring out the yellow. The red was thrown when officials decided the track was too dusty and the water truck was brought out. When the race restarted, Charlier was back out front over Alex Ferree and Jason Rider. John Mason making his first PPMS start in several seasons slowed with a flat right front and brought out the yellow. Charlier took off again until lap 4 when Mike Johnson stopped on the front straight with a flat left front. On the restart Charlier appeared to blow an engine, but actually it was a hole in his oil filter, he slowed and brought out the caution again. Ferree took over first on the restart leading Keith Barbara, and Jason Rider. On lap 5, 7th running Steve Baker rolled his nose under his car up high in turn one after hitting part of somewhat rough upper track surface, and hit the wall, taking him out of the event. Ferree took off again while Barbara and Lynn Geisler battled for third. The last yellow occurred on lap 13, when Tony Musolino jumped the cushion in turn 3 and hit the wall knocking him out of the race. Ferree was out front again, running a high line on the edge of the smooth lower track surface and the rough upper surface, hitting it just right and got faster with each lap and pulling away. Geisler was second about a straightaway behind, with Michael Norris in third, Barbara in fourth and Jim Stephans in 5th. The top five remained the same at the finish with Brandon Burgoon in sixth followed by Kari Gasser, Ben Miley , Josh Holtgraver (making his first start in his new late model), and Derek Stefanick (making his first start of the season). Holtgraver and Gasser each picked up the Awesome Designs Hard Charger and the K&N Persistent Performer, respectively. The heats had Steve Baker and Daryl Charlier grab the wins.

The Topless 25 Pro Late Sizzler II in the Brougher's Machine Shop Pro Late Fastrak Crate Late Models had Rochester Mills, PA's Andrew Satterlee pull a big comeback to pick up his second win of the season in the $1000 to win event. Satterlee grabbed the lead at the start of the caution filled event from his third starting spot. The first yellow appeared on lap 4 for an almost wreck, when Ron Hall and Bryant Hank tangled, and for a second looked like it would wipe out quite a few cars. But they all straightened out and kept going, but the yellow was already thrown. No one was sent to the rear, but Hank pitted with body damage. On the restart, Chris Lander, Tyler Carson and Chuck Medved tangled on the front straight, bringing out another caution. All three were done for the night. On the restart Satterlee led rookie Paul Jablonski, Steve Beatty, Hall, and Beau Glemba. By lap 5 Kyle Lukon moved into second and began to challenge Satterlee. Jablonski's run with the leaders ended on lap 8 when he spun off turn four bringing out the yellow. Lukon took over first on the restart and at that point Satterlee began to fade, as positions in the top five changed every lap. Lukon led by ½ a straightaway by lap 17 over Beau Glemba, Beatty, and Satterlee. Josh Holtgraver brought out the next yellow on lap 18 when he slowed. On the restart it was Lukon, Beatty, Tommy Schirnhofer Jr., Glemba and Satterlee. Brian Goebel spun the next lap, bringing out the races 5th caution. Satterlee made an amazing move to charge from 5th on the restart to grab the lead. Goebel spun again, bringing out another yellow. Satterlee charged back out front on the restart. Lukon slowed the next lap with a flat right rear tire, bringing out the races 7th and last caution. Satterlee moved back out front on the restart and led the remaining laps over Schirnhofer, Beatty, Colton Flinner, Nico Dabecco, Glemba, Dan Angelicchio (who was the races K&N Persistent Performer), Justin Lamb, Kyle Lukon, and Josh Holtgraver. The heats had Dan Angelicchio, Kyle Lukon, and Tommy Schirnhofer Jr. take the wins.

Saxonburg PA's Wayne Carbo picked up his first win of 2012 in the Sunoco Race Fuels DIRTcar Late Model Sportsman. Vince Laboon grabbed the lead at the outset of the main and led until lap 7, when Pat Weldon took over. Carbo coming from 11th moved into first on lap 8 and led the rest of the way. Laboon's run in the top 3 ended when his left side front suspension failed on lap 9. Following Carbo at the finish was Weldon, Jake Simmons, Josh Langer, Nick Kocuba, Joey Koteles, Brian Huchko (subbing for Jenn Barker), Steve Webb, Bill Slade, and Vince Laboon. Huchko picked up the K&N Persistent Performer Award. Nick Kocuba and Joey Koteles grabbed the heats.

Joe Podolinsky from nearby Oakdale, PA grabbed his second feature of the season in the Miley BP Car Wash DIRTcar Hobby Stocks. Podolinsky took the lead on lap 3 from Ed Wiser and led the remaining distance. Wiser was second over Chase Evans and Hannah Ramsey who was also the K&N Persistent Performer. Joe Podolinsky took the heat.

The Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns saw Monongahela, PA's Todd Weldon grabbed his 5th win of the season. Weldon took over first on the last lap from Logan Crewl to take the win.
