Topless 25 Slated for Saturday

(6/13/2012) The second installment of the Pro-Late Summer Sizzler Series will headline this Saturday's racing action at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The "Topless 25" will find the division's competitors removing their roofs to provide the fans with a unique view of "what goes on in the cockpit" as they vie for the $1,000.00 first place prize money. The Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns will also be in action this Saturday. In addition, this week's pre-race activities include a Free Petting Zoo in the main grandstand parking lot from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Pony rides will also be available at an additional cost. "We continue to look for ways to attract new fans to the sport and hopefully the petting zoo will provide the casual race fans with an added incentive to stay for the racing action that follows," stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "Our weekly competitors have provided three and even four wide racing action each week and this has certainly made our 'die-hard fans' happy. Those new to the sport should also appreciate how close the action as been and we firmly believe that if they are looking for affordable Saturday night family entertainment, PPMS is the place to be." Pro-Late action thus far as found Mike Pegher, Jr. visiting victory lane three times while Andrew Satterlee, current points leader Kyle Lukon, John Garvin, Jr. and Tommy Schirnhofer have each scored one victory. Other competitors who will be looking to get into the win column include defending points champion Colton Flinner, Beau Glemba, Josh Holtgraver, Justin Lamb and Steve Beatty. In last week's Super Late Model action, Mike Johnson scored his first victory in two years as he held off Alex Ferree, Daryl Charlier, Jared Miley and Michael Norris in the main event. Veteran Steve Baker and youngster Brandon Burgoon are also expected to return to racing action this week after spending last week at the Eldora Speedway for "The Dream." The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for all Saturday events open at 5:00PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM. In 2012, the management of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will utilize a Sunday evening rain date in the event Mother Nature fails to cooperate with the Saturday night racing action. Times for the Sunday rain dates are as follows: Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates open at 4:00PM, Hot Laps at 5:00PM and Racing at 6:00PM. Adult Grandstand Admission for this Saturday is $13.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $12.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $9.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise. Pit Admission for this week's racing is $30.00. Fans are also invited to bring their own refreshments however; glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller in size. And don't forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of delicious food like monster chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwiches, curly fries and cotton candy at "fan friendly prices."
