As Grassroots Racing Gains Greater Interest, Fairbury American Legion Speedway comes out as the Clear Favorite Among a Well Known Top 10!

With the world of motorsports converges on Indianapolis for the annual Performance Racing Industry show, RacingIn®.com is proud to announce that Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Illinois has been voted it's ‘Favorite Track of 2014’. This honor is bestowed based on the results of surveying thousands of Fans of Fast who have used RacingIn®.com to engage race tracks and racers across the United States over the past year and specifically over the past 90 days. During the voting period, fans were engaged through the site as well as through social media where the survey was shared far and wide. Very simply, those who had actually attended race tracks during 2014 were asked ‘What single track would you call YOUR FAVORITE TRACK of 2014?’

Fairbury came out the clear winner with the rest of the Top 10 being made up of a combination of both nationally known tracks like Eldora as well as regional and more local favorites across the United States. Considering that RacingIn®.com connects Fans of Fast with all types of racing, it was no surprise that a drag strip and a dirt karting track were among the top 10, as listed below: (Click on any track name for their full track profile)

1) Fairbury Amer. Legion Spdwy, Fairbury, IL

2) Southern Oklahoma Spdwy, Ardmore, OK

Special honors are not new to Fairbury American Legion Speedway (FALS), as their annual Prairie Dirt Classic was recently named the Race of the Year by DirtOnDirt.com.  For the folks at FALS though, it’s not just about the racing, but the entire experience. “Being recognized by a panel of racing experts is incredible, but to be named a fan favorite is especially powerful because it recognizes the entire environment here at Fairbury,” said Gunner Sullivan, Fairbury’s Advertising Director, “Without an incredible staff that is so welcoming of some of the most passionate fans in the Midwest, an honor like this just wouldn’t be possible!”

In talking about the racing, Race Director Matt Curl echoed Gunner’s comments about the staff making the difference at Fairbury saying, “We spend a long time planning for big events, but it’s not just the big events that make Fairbury what it is. The staff is just as focused on making weekly racing as smoothe and exciting as the big events. From track prep to the racing schedule, our fans know that whenever they come, they get a great night of racing.”

Race Fans who completed the survey were also asked why their favorite is their favorite. Gunner’s and Matt’s recognition of the culture and the staff is reinforced by many of the actual reasons cited by fans, including this one which echoed many, “It (Fairbury) has the best racing I have ever seen! Awesome and such a welcoming staff and town!”

It's About More than The Top 10

While Fairbury American Legion Speedway stands at the top, this ranking is about more than just them or even just the top 10 ‘Most Favorite' tracks as listed above. “RacingIn.com isn’t just about one track, but about the whole world of grassroots racing, and connecting more Fans of Fast with great racing all across the United States,” stated Scott Kosak, the Founder of RacingIn.com, continuing, “With over 400 different tracks noted as favorites by fans who took the survey, the secret’s getting outl  There’s GREAT RACING to be found in A LOT of places across the US, and at RacingIn.com, we can’t wait to connect even more race fans with even more great racing in 2015.”

Beyond the ‘Favorite Track’ component, RacingIn.com’s survey also garnered a wealth of information about the habits of race fans across the United States.  With added insight into the frequency with which people attend races, the types of racing they attend, and the distance they’ll travel to see it, there appears to be no let down in the passion that people feel for racing in every region across the United States.  More detailed results will be released in coming weeks at RacingIn.com.
