I have been racing since I was 8 years old. After we moved into our new house my parents bought me and my sister quarter midgets. I won in my first start ever in a Quartermidget and finished second in my first race in a Micro Sprint.

I like to spend much of my free time in the garage preparing my race cars. This is especially true this year as we have moved into a full size division. I am proud to become one of the youngest ever full time Pro4 Mod drivers. At 15 years and 3 days I made my first start and finished fifth in my heat and 13th in the feature. I completed the year 8th in points and won Rookie of the Year.

I now spend a fair amount of my timne trying to find sponsors for my racing as I understand how much it costs to move up in racing. I believe if I work real hard the rewards will be seen both on and off the track.

Primary Ride

My current race car is a smaller version of a NASCAR Whelen Modified Series car.  It is an open wheel car using a 4 cylinder motor instead of the V-8's of our big brothers. These motors are capable of almost 300 hp. When you couple this with the light weight of the cars they are small rocket ships. The cars are low and wide with an appearance of attitude.

The Pro4 Modifieds of New England race at various tracks throughout New England. We visit Monadnock Speedway in NH and Seekonk Speedway in Ma four times each this year. We also visit the historic CT racetracks of Stafford Speedway and Thompson Speedway once each. This year the tour will race at 7 tracks for 14 dates.

Hey guys! Its been a while since I updated here but up here in New England we usually buckle down for the winter. So now that racing season is just around the corner I thought I might fill everyone in on my winter.

First off in November I got the chance to test a Late Model at Hickory North Carolina. It was part of the school, Race101 I attended all last year. I even managed to keep it off the wall when the left rear tire was losing air. After my test session I completed my last classroom session for the school. I was also announced a the winner for a social media contest at the school and got Full Access Pitpasses for Speedweeks at Daytona.

In February I attended my graduation with RACE101 where I recieved the Outstandinng Acheivement award. It was so cool to be recognized as one of the students who made tremendous progress throughtout the year. I was one of 5 students recognized during our banquet. Then the following week me and my dad went to Daytona for the Bud Shoot out along with a night at New Smyrna Speedway to the modifieds.

All this time we have reading the car for our opening day on May 5. Its almost ready and I can't wait. Then 2 weeks ago I got an offer to drive for someone else as well. A guy in the next town owns a truck for the local speedway and he asked me to race it when I am not racing my Pro 4. I said yes of course.

So as you can see I had a busy winter and am looking forward to a busy summer as well. Please check back often to see my updates along with follwing me on Facebook, twitter and at my website

See ya - Derek
