I am a 31 year old ; 3rd generation race car driver. I race the #14 weekly in the Street Stock Division at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Massachusetts.

In 2014, I had what one would consider a stellar season.  With races run nearly every Saturday night from May through September, and finishing in the top 5 (with the exception of one 9th place finish) every race AND maintaining the point lead from opening day, I realized my dream of being crowned the "Street Stock Champion" for 2014.

My father and grandfather (and grandmother - Powder Puff Division) raced the same Speedway from the 1960's though the 1990's.  I started racing Seekonk 10 years ago in the Street Stock Division.  After a few years I moved into the Late Model Division, but had very little success with that particular car.  In fact, it was that car which provided me with my first (and I hope only!) upside-down view of the track.  Luckily, after a wild ride against the wall which ultimately flipped the car on its roof, I managed to walk away unscathed.  Needless to say, I sold that car and returned to the Street Stock Division the next season.

Two years ago I purchased a Pro Stock and drove limited events at Thompson Speedway in Thompson, CT.  Unfortunately, running two cars at two different tracks weekly proved to be taxing not only financially, but physically and left little time for anything else.

My father (Rey) is my crew chief and my biggest supporter.  If it wasn't for his undying LOVE of me and the sport; racing would not be possible.  Thank you dad!  Racing is an opportunity for the entire family to be together on the weekend and enjoy the sport.  Every week you are sure to find my mother (Lori), wife (Elise), children (Isabella & Rey), grandfather (Rey), aunts (Gail, Lorene & Debbie), cousins (Alisha, DJ &  Dickie), uncle (Kevin) and friends sitting in the third turn cheering me on!

Only time will tell if my 7 year son, and 4th generation driver, will end up behind the wheel of a race car.  When Rey Jr. was 5 we built a quarter midget gocart for him to drive at the "Little T" Thompson Speedway, CT.  Although Jr. drove like it was in his blood (which it most likely is), we found it extremely difficult maintaining a two car; two track schedule and opted to put his racing career on hold.  We have hopes that Jr. will kick off his driving career at Seekonk Speedway in their Sport Youth Racing Association (SYRA) division once he turns 10.  Will this be the making of a 4th generation driver?...time will tell.
