I’ve Been A Racing Fan Ever Since… My grandfather's company, Socar, was a sponsor for a Cup car way back in the early 1970's. I grew up in Florence, SC so we went to the races at Darlington every year.

I Love Racing Because… Each race is a circus. Racing offers the perfect mix of entertainment and competition. Plus, as a sports lawyer who represents teams and drivers, I have many friends on the track and in the pits who are competing every week. There is nothing like having a personal connection to the people who make racing such a great sport.

The best race I have ever been to was… Harry Gant came back from three laps down to win at North Wilkesboro. This was probably in 1990 or 1991. It seems like he was missing half of the sheet metal from his car when he crossed the finish line.

My biggest ‘racing memory’ is… The first time I watched a NASCAR race from on top of a pit box was the Busch race at Chicago in 2003. That was pretty cool. Otherwise any races at Darlington or Bristol are pretty special.

Joey Logano before the Nationwide race at Daytona, February 2009. I've worked with Joey and his family since Joey was 15. Great people.

With Jason Leffler and Todd Braun at Charlotte, 2005.

The Bray Law Firm works with race teams, drivers and industry players throughout NASCAR and beyond. Our attorneys have handled transactions and disputes in circuits as wide-ranging as ARCA and the Champ Car Series. Clients include some of the top young drivers and teams in the sport, including Joey Logano, Trevor Bayne, Kelly Bires, Alli Owens, Braun Racing and TRG Motorsports, among others.  The firm’s emphasis is on the general corporate representation of drivers and teams, and on the litigation and dispute resolution that often occurs in a sport where considerable dollars – and emotions – are invested.  The firm's unique practice was featured in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

In relation to NASCAR, we represent or have represented teams and drivers in all three major circuits – Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck.  In addition, we work with clients in other series, such as Rally America, ARCA, Indy Car, American Power Boat Association and F1 Champ Boat Series.  Our efforts have been recognized within the industry, as evidenced by the election of William Bray to serve as the Chair of the Sports and Entertainment Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association for 2006-2007. In this role, Mr. Bray coordinated and served as host of the first-ever continuing education seminar dedicated to motorsports law. Entitled Law in the Fast Lane, held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, October 12-13, 2006.  Mr. Bray has further served as a program coordinator and speaker at each of the first two TRAC conferences.
