Fan Appreciation Night at Marion Center Speedway as well as W. G. Satterlee & Sons Night with E-Mod Special

(6/14/2016)

Saturday night was fan appreciation night at Marion Center Speedway as well as W. G. Satterlee & Sons Night with an E-Mod Special 25 lap feature.  During intermission the race car drivers brought their cars onto the front stretch in front of the grandstands and the fans were able to go onto the track and mingle with the drivers and get up close with the race cars too.  Many drivers handed out “gifts” to the fans which was an added bonus.  It takes both the fans and drivers to make racing great-like it has been at Marion Center Speedway under the direction of the Potts Family for the last 50 years!  Following Intermission and Fan Time with the drivers, the W. G. Satterlee & Sons features were held for all 6 divisions, including the 25 lap E-Mod special.  Here are the results of those races:

Mike Blose blew away the competition in the Lias Tire Super Late Model feature.  Starting on the pole, Blose led every lap to the checkered flags to gain entry to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle and receive his trophy from W. G. Satterlee & Sons and a special treat-an etched mug commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Marion Center Speedway that was made by Crooked Creek Creations.  Joe Martin was in pursuit of Blose and finished second just ahead of Billy Eash who took third.  Here’s the finish for the Lias Tire Super Late Model Feature:  1) Mike Blose,          2) Joe Martin, 3) Billy Eash, 4) Levi Sikora, 5) Joe Kelly driving for Tommy Beck and 6) Tom Shaffer – the last two drivers did not finish the feature.  Mike Blose also won the Lias Tire Super Late Model heat race.

Rich Logan from Latrobe was also a start to finish leader of his feature-the Pisano’s Personal care Home Steel Block Limited Late Models-going from pole to checkers leading every lap.  Cheyenne Reed of Punxsutawney kept a lot of pressure on Logan but never got around Logan to take second place at the finish line.  Wendell Pinckney from Albion came up from sixth in the seventeen car field to take third.  Here’s the order in which they finished the Pisano’s Personal Care Home Steel Block Limited Late Model feature sponsored by W. G. Satterlee & Sons:  1) Rich Logan, 2) Cheyenne Reed, 3) Wendell Pinckney, 4) Scott Stein, 5) Jeff Sweeney,  6) Sam Gindlesperger, 7) Keith Witherite, 8) Gale Huey, 9) Vern Ward, 10) Dan Boyd.  Wendell Pinckney and Cheyenne Reed won their respective heat races.

Jim Fosnaught was the winner of the Pro-Stock feature – formerly known as the Street Stocks.  Fosnaught started on the pole and took every lap for his ticket to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle.  Fosnaught had quite the lead built up over second place finisher Bob Egley who was being challenged by Gary Furman for his position.  The results of the Pro-Stock Feature:  1) Jim Fosnaught, 2) Bob Egley, 3) Gary Furman, 4) Noah Brunell, 5) Sam McAdams with 6) Rich Waltman was not able to finish the feature.  Bob Egley was the winner of the Pro-Stock heat race.

The E-Mods sponsored by W. G. Satterlee & Sons had a 25 lap special feature Saturday Night at Marion Center Speedway.  One of only three repeat victors at the track this season, Evan Taylor has the most wins of anybody at three so far this season. Evan Taylor was able to hold off Matt Lux for the win and take home the special trophy provided by W. G. Satterlee & Sons and the 50th Anniversary mug from Crooked Creek Creations. The final at the checkered flags:  1) Evan Taylor,  2) Matt Lux, 3) Shane Crotty, 4) Jonathan Taylor, 5) Carl McKinney, 6) Alan Atkinson, 7) Mark Bell, 8) Vigi Zuccolotto.  DNF’s go to 9) Alyssa Rowe, and 10) Josh Cramer.  The winner of the    W. G. Satterlee & Sons E-Mod heat race was Jonathan Taylor.

The Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock Feature was won by Jim Hamilton.  Hamilton started on the outside pole and was able to take the early lead away from Rich Waltman, Jr. and hold off all other advances and avoid a major collision early on in the race to gain admission to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle.  Nick Erskine was trying to keep the pressure on Hamilton, but Hamilton wasn’t letting up or leaving any opportunities open for Erskine to make a pass for the lead.  When the checkered flags came out it was Jim Hamilton with the win and Nick Erskine in second.  Here are the top ten finalists:  1) Jim Hamilton, 2) Nick Erskine, 3) Nick Fulmer, 4) Rich Waltman, Jr., 5) Brian Mills, 6) Ryan Caldwell, 7) Larry Brewer, 8) Jim Hixson, 9) Chris Hickok – dnf, 10) Jim Miller – dnf as well as the next five cars all DNF.  The winner of the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock heat races were Jim Hamilton and Chris Hickok.

Tanner Lansberry joined an elite club of those with multiple victories at Marion Center Speedway this season when he clenched the win in the Texas Auto Ranch Front Wheel Drive 4 & 6 Cylinder’s Feature.  Lansberry started on the outside pole and led every lap to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle for his second trip there this season so far.  Lansberry had lots of pressure during the feature from Robert Lydic, Bill Mumau and John Costa, but the young Lansberry held his own on the track to secure the win.  Here’s the Finish Line Results:  1) Tanner Lansberry, 2) John Costa, 3) Bill Mumau, 4) Michael Potter, 5) Michael Phillipson, 6) Adam Gee, 7) Zack Wissinger,   8) Charlie Brewer, 9) Jamie Noel, 10) Robert Lydic – dnf.  Robert Lydic was the winner of the Texas Auto Ranch Front Wheel Drive 4 & 6 Cylinder heat race.

There’s a whole lot happening this season at Marion Center Speedway with events scheduled every Saturday night with lots of specials such as the Super Late Model ‘King of the Hill’ Races scheduled for next Saturday, June 18 as part of the Father’s Day Special sponsored by American Racer/Lias Tire, Twin Features and the “Thrill on the Hill Music Festival” over Labor Day Weekend. There’s also a Truck and Tractor pull scheduled at the track for Thursday, June 30.  And don’t forget about the Marion Center Speedway Kid’s Club.  Saturday June 18 is the next running of Kid’s Bike Races.   Kids bring your bicycles and helmets to participate in the bike races at intermission.  Marion Center Speedway has rescheduled the features rained out on June 4 to be made up June 25.  Those races to be made up are the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock, the W. G. Satterlee & Sons E-Mod, and the Texas Auto Ranch Front Wheel Drive 4 & 6 Cylinder features.  June 25 will also include the Mid-Season Championships and the night is sponsored by B D Laraway & Associates.  Keep up to date by checking the internet because there’s a whole lot more information and news relating to the season on the website:  marioncenterspeedway.net which is the ONLY Official Website of Marion Center Speedway.  All others are Not Associated with MCS and may not contain official information; or you can follow us on facebook, or catch up on twitter or the blog with what’s happening. You can also make sure you don’t make that unnecessary drive up to the top of the hill if we’re rained out by signing up for text messages or e-mails from “Rainedout.com” and receive up to the minute messages if the track should cancel for the night –and it’s free!.  Plus there’s the NEWEST Race Day Hotline phone number 724-397-2173 to call on days of events only for a recorded message of the status of the events for the day.

Drivers please note there’s been a change to your “Check in Procedure”- No one will be permitted to draw for position without the car being there at the pit gate when the draw is made.  No walk-ups to get your “pill”- when the car is at the gate you can then get your starting position.
