Fairchild, WI, (May 3, 2014) – Many fans waited long and hard throughout an arguably dreadful winter, to witness some great racing action since the Fall Shootout of 2013! After eight-straight days of rain, some wondered if Marshfield would even be able to race with the water issue in turn one. However, that issue has been resolved and many fans witnessed some great racing action!

Florida’s Dalton Zehr attended the track for practice sessions, weeks and days prior to the opener. Zehr’s practice paid off as he tripped the clock fastest in qualifying for the Super Late Models. Dean LaPointe and Jordan Thiel battled side by side throughout the Napa of Marshfield Dash 4 Cash. Thiel, a Wisz Racing entrant, would edge LaPointe for the race win. In heat race action, Reagan May outlasted Don Turner to win the first heat. In the fast heat, Ryan Hinner edged Ben Pettis for the win.

Lacrosse, WI veteran driver Don “Thunder” Turner led the field to the green flag in the Super Late Model 50-lap feature event. Turner would lead lap one, with Reagan May hot on his heels. May surpassed Turner exiting turn 2, on the second lap to take over the helm. May, a Fox Valley standout driver, would lead the next 14 circuits around the 1/2 mile paved oval of Marshfield Motor Speedway. With pressure from Cory Kemkes, Ryan Hinner, and Dalton Zehr, May finally relinquished the lead to Zehr on lap 15. With the race going caution free, Dalton Zehr built a 4 car length lead over Hinner. On lap 34, it was noticeable that Hinner was cutting into the lead that Zehr built for himself. However, it was Dalton Zehr motoring to the feature win with Ryan Hinner coming home a strong second place. Eau Claire, WI driver Ben Pettis finished third. Rounding out the top five, it was Jordan Thiel and Reagan May finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

The X-Treme 4′s were back in action and a strong field of 16 cars would compete in the 25-lap feature event. Gleason, WI driver Justin Mondeik passed three cars in the first lap to grab the early lead. Mondeik, a senior at Merrill High School, battled Phil Malouf early, but it was Malouf winning that battle and grabbing the race lead on lap 4. Brad Conant, whom of which started 14th, raced his way to the race lead by lap eight with an outside pass of Malouf. Fast timer Adam Eckes worked himself to the runner up position on lap 15, but tonight, it was Conant covering the field and earning the feature win. Eckes would wind up in the second spot, with Derk Hauser finishing a strong third. Phil Malouf and Steve Hauser finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Danielle Behn, Jeffrey Behrens, and Steve Hauser, captured their respective heat wins tonight. Adam Eckes earned fast time honors.

Pure Stocks were once again on the card here tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Travis Volm started his night off in a good way, setting a new track record in qualifying. Volm, a Mosinee, WI resident, tripped the clock at 22.070. Dave Lashua earned the heat win edging out Nick Erickson, Jr.

In feature action, Dave Lashua battled side by side with Travis Volm for the race lead. On their heels, it was Karl and Kyle Genett racing door to door. With the Genett’s racing side by side for the runner up position, it was Erickson looking three wide numerous times to get into the mix. On lap 15, Erickson dropped from the field with mechanical reasons, eliminating his chances for the feature win. Volm eventually raced his way around Dave Lashua, and built up a lead he would not surrender. Travis Volm motored to the feature win with Dave Lashua and Karl Genett rounding out the top three. Kyle Genett and Nick Erickson, Jr. finished fourth and fifth.

Second year driver Dillon Mackesy was nothing short of brilliant, starting off his sophomore race season. Mackesy, a third generation driver (Father-Wayne, Grandfather-Bob), earned fast time honors with a lap time of 22.320.

Dillon Mackesy edged out Eau Claire, WI driver Brian Hudson, and Mariah Gajewski for the heat win in the Bandit division.

Once the field took the green flag for their respective feature event, it was Corey Stephens jumping out to the early lead. Stephens would get passed on lap 5, by a very fast Mackesy. Mackesy, who earlier won his heat and qualifying, was looking to sweep the field with a feature win. Standing his way however, would be a very fast Mariah Gajewski. Gajewski appeared to be the only car tonight that may have anything for the Mackesy machine. Tonight, however, Mariah Gajewski would have to settle for second place, as Dillon Mackesy notched his first career feature win in impressive fashion! With Gajewski in the second position, it was Brandon Polansky with an impressive third place finish.

Marshfield Motor Speedway will be off the next two weeks, giving way to the Tundra and ARCA Midwest Tour races. The next race will be May 24th with the running of the first leg of the Yellow River Racing Series Super Late Model 100-lap feature event, presented by Earth, Inc. Qualifying will begin at 6pm, the racing set to begin at 7:30 pm.
