Free 1-Mile Practice Clay Track in Macon, Georgia

(8/11/2012)

The City of Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation Department is opening its 1-mile clay track in Central City Park to local groups interested in practicing.  The hope is to eventually get back to the old days of racing, but to get started, depending on interest, specific times will be reserved for car/motorcycle racing.

The track can be traced back to the late 1800's, when horse racing was the activity of choice.  The historic track is also located next to Historic Luther Williams Stadium - built in 1929 and known as the second oldest minor league stadium in the country.

If you are interested in driving on the track for free, call Parks and Recreation Director Doc Dougherty at 478-751-9280.  The track is located at 150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive, Macon, Ga 31201.

Please note - You MUST call to arrange a time to be sure that your group is permitted to drive on the track.  Please do not just show-up and get on the track.  Thanks!
