Williams Grove Kicks Off Holiday With Diamond Series For 410 Sprints Friday

Sprints race for $4,000 to win, PASS/IMCA 305 sprints and fireworks round out card

Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will present another 2016 Diamond Series event for the Lawrence Chevrolet Sprint Cars coming up this Friday night, May 27 at 8 pm.

 

Joining the 410 sprint cars on the card will be the PASS/IMCA 305 sprint cars.

 

The Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprints will compete for $4,000 to win to go along with an increased purse elsewhere.

Time trials will set the sprint car starting grids. 

 

Fireworks will also be part of the holiday weekend program.

 

Adult general admission tickets are $18 with youth ages 13 – 20 admitted for $10 and ages 12 and under admitted for free.

 

The Williams Grove portion of the 50/50 will be given to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing while another like amount contributed by Williams Grove will be donated to the charity of the sprint car winner’s chosing.

 

A static display of restored racecars from the EMMR will be set up in the speedway infield for the evening. 

 

Brian Montieth kicked off the 2016 Diamond Series with a win in the annual Tommy Hinnershitz Memorial on April 22 while Lance Dewease won the second event in the series on May 13.

 

Both Danny Dietrich and Greg Hodnett are currently tied in the 2016 Diamond Series point standings while Dietrich of Gettysburg leads the overall 2016 Williams Grove season series standings.

 

Winners to date have been Rick Lafferty, Greg Hodnett, Pat Cannon, Doug Esh, Brian Montieth and Lance Dewease, who became the first repeat winner of the season by not only winning on May 13 but again on May 20 against the World of Outlaws. 

 

Coming up June 3 at Williams Grove Speedway it will be York County Racing Club Night for the 410 sprints and the URC Sprints with an 8 pm start.

 

And meanwhile the track is readying for the return of the exclusive USAC Silver Crown Sprints for the revival of the Horn-Schindler Memorial 100 coming up on Friday, June 10.
