POCOLA, OK (August 29TH, 2015) – After last weekend’s rain out and the previous weekend’s scheduled weekend off for back to school activities, Mother Nature once again threatened to throw her proverbial ‘monkey wrench” into the activities. A fairly light rain passed over Tri-State Speedway early in the day on Saturday and thanks to the track crew’s hard work, the track was ready for hot laps at 7:15 PM.

The night kicked off with the trophy presentations for the previous race’s (from August 8TH, 2015) A Feature winners with interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands. This was followed with a short dialogue from track announcer, Rob Nugent, about the passing of IndyCar driver Justin Wilson, along with the passing of local racer and friend, Chuck Fountain. The invocation followed a moment of silence and then a memorial parade lap, honoring the late Tillman Evans, during the National Anthem.

Heat racing action got underway at 8:14 PM with a lot of three and four wide racing action. Intermission was underway by 9:30 PM which gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the concession food, try some of the world famous Menasco BBQ and grab a big funnel cake for dessert. Several race fans and kids were also the lucky recipients of track giveaways, including free T-Shirts, during the intermission.

The Pure Stock A Feature was up first and saw Andrew Bohanan (51) take home his second win of 2015 while previous winner, Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK), came home in second ahead of Chris Perkins (88 - Rudy, AR) who finished in third for the third week in a row.

In the IMCA Sport Mod A Feature, Ken McCarty (1 - Roger, AR) took home his sixth A Feature win of the season ahead of last week’s winner Cody Rongey (7 1- Booneville, AR) as Neil Johnston (17J - Fort Smith, AR) crossed the line in third.

The IMCA Modified A Feature hit the track next and saw Jake Davis (7 – Fort Smith, AR) take home the trophy for his first win of the season ahead of Johnny Bone, Jr. (12 – Pea Ridge, AR) and Tate Cole (89 – Muskogee, OK).

The Factory/I Stock A Feature saw Justin Johnson (55 – Fort Smith, AR) claim his second win of the season ahead of Shannon Cox (75 – Greenwood, AR) in second and Keith Heaslet (5 - Indianola, OK) in third.

The TSS Modified A feature was up next with Brandon Hunter (1/4 – Alma, AR) taking the win for the second week in a row over Mike Cook (7C – Community, AR) and Mike Hines (57M – Van Buren, AR) in second and third respectively.

The Super Stock A Feature hit the track next and saw H. Palmer (X-15 – Muldrow, OK) come home just a few feet short as Kyle Slader (19S – Muskogee, OK) claimed the win that went down to the last lap and last turn as point leader Neil Johnston (17 – Fort Smith, AR) crossed the line in third.

Up next on the high banks was the Powder Puff race with only three of the eight who signed up taking to the track. Mary Margaret Green (31W) took the win over Virginia Anderson (36) and Angela Stanton (23).

The last race saw three of the eight ‘Old Timer” who signed in take to the track. The mystery driver of car #1 took the win over Bosco Hunter (1/2) and Carl McDade (1ST) as Carl lost a right front wheel after hitting the outside front strait wall on the next to last lap.
