About Marion Center Speedway
The 2013 racing season will mark the 47th Anniversary of the Marion Center Speedway. The 1/4 mile dirt track oval is located on the top of a hill, just off PA route 119, 3 miles north of Marion Center and 10 miles south of Punxsutawney. The track was built in the fall of 1965 with the first races in the summer of 1966. The business has been owned and operated by the Potts family (Dave, June, Rich, and Janet) ever since. Friends, neighbors, and even former race car drivers make up the rest of the staff that keeps the facility family oriented.
The Marion Center Speedway operates on a schedule of racing Saturday night from early May through early September, with rain outs to be run on Sunday evenings when necessary. Opening night for the 2013 race season is set for May 4th. The gates and concession stands open an hour and a half before the racing begins at 7:30pm. One night's program consists of racing 6 divisions. One night a month, the intermission is devoted to Little Racers, when kids bring their bicycles and helmets down onto the race track to compete against others in their age group. Also, some special events are in the works.
