Hi im Ronnie Gardner in 21 years old, Pretty much been around racing my whole life. My grandpas both raced back in the day and my dad has bulit and worked on them for as long as i can remember. I got my start in racing about a year ago when i finally talked my dad into letting me drive one one night in a local sprintcar race in victorville, Ca. i ran 8th that night first time out. i had always wanted to race he just was hesitent for some reason. Before i raced i worked on them for years.I Built and maintained on my own for about 3 years as a crew chief for Blake Miller.  I won the 2009 national sprintcar rookie of the year award, along with the 2009 usac/cra most improved driver.

Primary Ride

i Drive a 410 Sprintcar in the Usac/Cra Sprintcar series. its a Sled Chassis which is a chassis of are own creation. Its got a Downing/Chevy engine. engine puts out about 810 horsepower.

Chili bowl Midget Nationals: 1/15/10

My first ever ride in a midget and what a better place to do so at the chili bowl. Practice went well we had two sessions on Monday to shake the car down and for me to figure out how to drive one of these things.

My qualifying night was Wednesday night and they were using the pill pick system to line the heat races up and passing points were to be used to determine feature line ups. I was to line up second row outside in the second heat next to non other than Kasey Kahne. Well we had kind of missed the set up a little and I was a little on the free side and couldn’t stick on the bottom but I put my head down and tried to salvage a good finish. I had lost one spot and was running fifth with one to go when the guy in front of me jumped the berm and about stopped in front of me. I had no place to go and drilled him in the bumper and came to a stop. With no passing points and a last place finish in the heat I went on to the C main. Starting 15th they were taking 4 to the back of the B. I got a few on the start and got rolling on the cushion and had moved to 6th with 4 to go and got a yellow. On the restart I drove around another guy and was running fifth with 3 to go. We got the 2 to go sign and I had an run on the guy going in to turn one and got in way to hard and slid into the fence. that ended my night and it was off to the K main on Saturday.

So I started outside front row of the K main, got a good jump and ran second for the first 4 laps there was a yellow and the leader and pulled to the infield. I lead the last couple laps and moved on to the J main. Starting 15th in the j I had to get to the top 4 to advance to the I main. I got going and made it 5th with 3 laps to got and ran down 4th place as we can to the white flag. I ran it into turn one and got to the outside of the guy in the final transfer but as I thought I was going to clear him off to I slipped high and hit a greasy spot and he beat me to turn 3. and I had to settle for 5th and my weekend was over.

Chili bowl requires a lot of luck and it just wasn’t there for me with week.
